Installing QBD Plugin

If you have the latest version 1.5.2 you don't need to reinstall.

Our plugin works with versions as far back as 2015 to 2018, Accountant and Enterprise. It will not work on a MAC machine or Windows XP.

Please disable the firewall / antivirus program before importing.

To Install the Plugin:
  • Download Plugin from Tax1099, Import > QB Desktop > Plugin

  • Extract the files from the zip folder that downloads after clicking on the Plugin button above.
  • Double-click the file named Tax1099QBWImport.exe.
  • Authorize the change if prompted by your computer.
  • You will then see the wizard that will install the plugin.

  • Save the file where the wizard defaults it to.

  • Click “Install”.

  • The files will download and process, then you will see the final screen of the wizard.

  • The first time you open QuickBooks Desktop after the installation, open by right-clicking and choosing “Run as Administrator.” If you don't get the option, please unpin the icon from the taskbar and choose the option from the desktop. Signing in as admin won't work.
  • Choose “Yes” when prompted for the app to make changes to your device (or similar message depending on your operating system).
  • Once QBD opens, choose the option for opening a company file. Login as Admin.
  • When you open a company file, you will see the popup below.

  • If this option does not appear, go back to the beginning and start over. Uninstall the plugin. Make sure QBD is closed while installed the plugin.
  • When the Certificate message opens:
  • Choose the third option, “Yes, whenever this QuickBooks company file is open.
  • Choose the check box that says “Allow this application to access personal data such as Social Security Numbers and customer credit card information.” Then click Continue.

  • Click Done on the next popup.

You have installed the plugin. You only do this one time for the machine you are working on. Any additional company files opened here will ask if you want to allow the application to access data as seen above.
 
Q:  What are the next steps?

A:
 Use the 1099 wizard to verify the information and map the chart of accounts, then use the 1099 Upload Data feature to import into Tax1099.com

It will then bring your forms into the Import Grid where there are red/yellow/green dots. If you have any red or yellow dots, click on the name and edit whatever data is missing and Update. 

Once you have all green dots, select all the boxes to the left to select recipients and then click Next at the bottom. That will create the forms and save them in tax1099. You will need to review for accuracy and formatting approval.

Then select the forms to the left, select if you want us to email, mail USPS or state filing. If the state filing is not selected you will need to edit the form to make sure box 17 is filled out with the correct state info. Save & Continue.

Then when all items are selected, click Next at the bottom to take you to the payment page.
